Every change starts with a question: what can I do better? “Solve for Tomorrow” invites young people to recognize the challenges around them and become the change that is needed.
Samsung “Solve for Tomorrow” is an international STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) based contest created to foster problem solving skills while promoting the positive impact young minds can have on our society. The contest inspires our participants to tackle the emerging challenges and produce tangible innovations to help improve our society. During its journey, we aim to equip students with skills that go far beyond technical, including critical thinking, creative thinking, communicating, and collaborating skills, required for the future workforce.
“Solve for Tomorrow” starts with an idea, but its goal is much bigger: to encourage young people to understand that technology can be a tool not only for leisure, but also for driving change. Over the course of the several-month-long project, participants will explore how to turn a problem they have identified themselves into an idea, and that idea into real change.
Teams of students in grades 9–12 are invited to take part in the competition, which will be held across all three Baltic countries in 2026. This year, there is twice as much room for ideas: the new season of the competition offers students two thematic tracks – sports and technology, and sustainability.
The sports and technology track invites students to explore new ways in which technology could encourage physical activity and make sports more inclusive, accessible, or simply more engaging. It could be an app, a new digital experience, a smart solution, or a completely unexpected idea that fundamentally changes the way we think about movement.
Meanwhile, the sustainability track encourages participants to look for solutions that could help us live more sustainably in our everyday lives. How can we reduce waste, conserve resources, or encourage more responsible consumption? How can technology contribute to this? The competition welcomes a wide range of technology-based solutions, including small changes that could make a difference in many people’s daily lives.
Since its inception in the U.S. in 2010, “Solve for Tomorrow” has expanded its operation in 68 countries worldwide including Korea. “Samsung” employees volunteer to advise on projects and offer their expertise in each country, walking the journey together with the contestants. From 2021 – “Solve for Tomorrow” runs also in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, all together as one Baltics idea contest for youth!
In recent years, students participating in “Solve for Tomorrow” have explored topics such as finding a balance between life online and in the real world (2021/2022), sustainable lifestyles (2022/2023), improving well-being at school (2023/2024), strengthening students’ talents with the help of artificial intelligence (2024/2025), and finding solutions to encourage greater physical activity among students (2025/2026).
